Independence Day

To celebrate the Fourth of July weekend, I am re-posting an essay from 2007 (edited slightly to reflect current events).

I celebrate the Fourth of July.

Why?

Because our forefathers courageously fought for independence against the most powerful empire of the day.

Because they fought for freedom of religion.

Because they fought for freedom from taxation without representation (remember the Boston Tea Party?)

Even though the banks now run the government.

Even though the U.S.A. became a fascist country

Even though American leaders committed some of the greatest war crimes in history

Even though criminals took over our government

I celebrate the spirit of our founding fathers who struggled and won against tyrants with overwhelming power.

The current money-changers are -- unfortunately -- not thousands of miles away and across an ocean. The enemy is now within, the Republican and Democratic "leadership" who have sold their souls to the lobbyists and march to the same well-paying drummer, unwilling to listen to the 300 million drummers who are We The People of the United States of America.

So on this 4th of July, I proclaim my independence from those who are destroying our country, and I invoke the courage of our forefathers to fight for liberty and justice.

Legal Disclaimer (the small print):

I am NOT calling for the overthrow of the government. In fact, I am calling for the reinstatement of our government. I am calling for an end to lawlessness and lack of accountability and a return to the rule of law. Rather than trying to subvert the constitution, I am calling for its enforcement. Do you disagree with these goals? If so, then YOU are anti-American.
